My name is Alex Canedo, I'm an Illustrator, Lettering Artist and Animator from Porto, Portugal.
I work across editorial illustration, social media campaigns, branding, book covers, and animation.
I'm always trying to find new ways to express myself in the work I create.
I started drawing when I was 15 years old, doing realistic portraits of Eminem and famous actors. Went to art college, but didn't really like it there, I felt like I didn't fit in with the rest so I decided to drop out.
Took some time off drawing, transitioned to video editing for a while - that's where I started to play around with animation. Had some fun creating animated type / stickers and uploading them to GIHPY. The fact that people all around the world could type something on the search bar and my work pop up, it was an amazing feeling for me. Quickly after I jumped into Illustration, mainly focusing on lettering. There's something about playing with type that I absolutely love.
If I had to name where my inspiration comes from... I would say it comes from pop-culture, travel and music.
